 GENERAL SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

A scholarship is a gift of money awarded for academic achievement, financial need, religious affiliation, ethnic or racial heritage, community activities, organizational membership, special talents, county organizations, career plans or awards for employee’s children.  Students do not need to have an “A” grade point average to apply and students are not always required to demonstrate financial need to qualify for scholarships.

DO NOT BE  FOOLED. Very official programs may approach you about securing financial aid monies for a fee. All financial aid information is free and accessible. You should not pay any money for securing financial aid information.

Students seeking scholarships should be aware of and may use all of the following resources in their search.

  • Scholarship Drawer in CCC, A106:  Seniors are advised to come in each week, starting in Sept. and review the list of current scholarships. The list is updated each week and included in the advisory update AND in this website under weekly scholarships. Copies of the scholarships are available in the drawer.
  • Student's parent's employers some times have scholarship for emoplyee's children.
  • Each individual school the student is applying to will have a Financial Aid and or Scholarship Office portion of their websites. In the early fall, the student should look at each of these areas and determine if there are any scholarships that they can apply for as in coming freshmen. In addition, if applicable, they should check the major that they are applying for to see if there are scholarships for incoming freshmen.
